Something new

Hello everyone! I decided to give blogging a go since I am always looking for something new to do on top of everything else that I'm crazy enough to get started with.

This year has brought several notable changes to our life. During this last Christmas holiday season I woke up in the wee hours feeling very impressed to return to teaching full time after an eight year lapse. So I did my homework, got everything put together, and now here I am with an empty classroom and a class list of 22 students. I'll be teaching 2nd grade at Midway Elementary, and the boys will be there too. Mathew is now in 3rd grade and Jared and Nathan are in 1st. How did they grow up so fast?

At church this morning, Nathan and Jared were both feeling extra cuddly. A nice special moment. Now that they are so old (six years old and they think they're teenagers) I don't often get sweet snuggles from them. They have awesome, long, sun bleached locks of summertime hair, and this morning it smelled especially nice as I held them both in my arms.

So I like animals. Over the past few years I've collected first cats, then fish, chickens and ducks, a dog, angora bunnies, and this spring we added nigerian dwarf goats to the mix. What fun! I never thought I'd be milking a goat and enjoying it. In fact, Josh says that I probably have earned the "farm girl" shirt that his secretary (who is very much a farm girl--she once had her dirty boots and spurs on at the office) says that I need. The vet taught me how to give a shot and on Friday I successfully gave my first one. Hopefully with practice I'll be more steady handed.
